In addition to my Oakland interests, I have a 4plex just south of the Richmond BART station (my very first purchase in 2012 with an FHA loan) and a couple single family homes over by 8th & Virginia Ave.

or bit the bullet, buy and then fix as I can using the funds from my paycheck and the savings I would have due to a lower mortgage payment then rental costs. 

My wife and I have a couple rentals right now that were originally bought as primary residences while I was active duty Navy stationed in Virginia Beach and San Diego.  

It is also a 6 minute drive to South Attleboro train station. 

This townhouse is located in Montclair, NJ right next to Bay Station (a line that goes directly into NYC).

My wife and I are both active duty military stationed in El Paso, TX.

If you plan to spend a lot of time in the city on your time off, you may want to consider doing the reverse commute- living downtown close to nightlife and Union Station. 

Married military guy who is stationed in town, but his family is moving back home (out of state).

I was stationed there while in the Army, but chose to live in downtown Austin and make the commute.

I am currently shopping the market trying to find a primary residence that is a great deal for when I become stationed at Goodfellow, AFB.
