Jacking the house up, installing new footings and cement block.  

Previously the old deck (that was almost falling apart) had the stairs going circular (which is not up to code in Boston anymore) which gave my deck a lot of space.

The roof is a 12-12 pitch roof, this gave me the ability to have 3 bedrooms up stairs, laundry, and a big bathroom with a double bowl sink.On the first floor is the mastr bedroom with it's own bathroom.

We were all studying engineering & during classes with a professor he told us about a black waterproof hydraulic cement impervious to salt damp that we could use to supplement the first course of the wall.

Bought a home with 55 stairs from street level to front door.

Will rehab (needs new stairs, interior cosmetics, landscaping, etc) and then live in for a couple years and then most likely make it a rental property (could probably cover the mortgage and taxes if rented now).

There is one main door into a foyer - then one set of stairs leads up to a door for the upper unit and another stairs leads down to the basement suite door.

I put all new flooring in the upper level of their unit, its a bi-level duplex, and the bedrooms are in the basement, which has carpeting, as did my side, but I tore my carpet out due to years of dog urine never cleaned out of it, which soaked into the cement and even after enzyme cleaning and layers of scent sealing paint and then vinyl plank flooring, I can still smell it in the damp weather.

I’ve seen sellers are adding stairs next to the drive way to make it walkable.
