A 8X8 deck i need installed attached to the sliding doors. and the stair well entrance will be painted as well. 

@Matt Lavinder They did use carpet in the bedroom and now that i think about it on the stairs as well.

im new as well and haven't done any deals yet, just educating myself while building up my savings account :)  I hear ya with the little one, my 9 month old just figured out how to crawl up stairs!! 

Will 1/4" cement board (or 1/2") plus tile thickness cause an issue with stair heights?

Question , I have a sale pending with a complete basement remodel with All permits approved except for the final which is in appeal because of some stairs .

We would be looking at quite an investment however with the purchase of the land, possibly installing a bulk head, sewer, power, cement, pilings, deck, and a few improvements like fixing sheetrock, adding shutters, etc.So in summary, we are considering moving our current home to a higher value piece of land and then selling.  

It's what's used in many municipalities to dictate things like the distance that a handrail must be above the riser of stairs, and many more.

Plus, I have to carry all the stuff up a flight of stairs just to get to the living room. 

Some times room is fine, but still illegal because ceilings are not high enough on the stairs.

Tell grandma to be careful going up the stairs (joking).
