In the case of the chips acts it’s 200million out of the 39billion have been spent.What I follow is: my local real estate market (still very hot)The company I work for (stabilized after layoffs last year)The stock market (still hot)Job opportunities in my expertise (aerospace structures)—not as hot as two years ago but still strong.Anecdotes from my social groups (no issues).We’ll see though.

I have sat in enough management meetings where it was ok to let go someone (vs the other guy) during layoffs because he had a high earning spouse or was simply well off vs the other dude who had a sob story that management felt more sympathetic towards.

This thing that jobless number go up and people will be forced to sell is proven to be wrong too, otherwise home price in bay area would go down a lot by now.Reason: typical household has dual income , one layoff the other can cover; and then even if they have to sell, the rent would be there anyway.

So they aren't about to lay off 40% of their staff (including, naturally, the operations person who knows how to do the thing that you need to have done for your closing to happen), as many of the "tech company disrupters" (who are only ever able to function during a refi boom, time and time again, what has come to pass before is coming to pass now and shall come to pass again, so say we all and amen) are presently in the middle of doing as part of the normal interest rate cycle.
