At settlement, you will need the registration and a statement from the Secretary of State that the entity was properly registered, a Certificate of Good Standing, that the proper fees have been paid and is free of any encumbrances, liens, claims, pending actions and I doubt you can get that "at settlement".

The title company may ask to see proof of the name change, but you should receive that from the Secretary of State once the name change is recorded.

As far as I know, you can register any name that isn't already on file with the Secretary of State or isn't too close to another entity's name that's already registered.Kudos on the interest and initiative, but don't forget to take action!
