The problem with that is that you now have a single point of failure -- if your PM isn't trustworthy or isn't qualified, your entire project is at risk and you may not know about it until it's too late.The least risky solution is a team of people to manage different parts of the process, but this is difficult to implement and requires you (and each of them) having strong leadership and teamwork skills.
