I've got a rehab with either aluminum or metal windows that look to be about 20 years old.

I still have the original 1960's aluminum windows on mine.

Also, I won't be simply replacing the glass, I am going to replace the entire window since they happened to be the only 2 old aluminum windows in the house.

My tape/float guys are confident that they can make this look good.Put an aluminum L trim on it, something from Fry Reglet probably.

Explain to the HOA that painting the aluminum parts of the door will end up leading to frequent chipped and peeling paint, with the result being even uglier than the "uniform" mismatch that exists now.  

If the house was built in, or after, 1968, there is the possibility it contains aluminum wiring - you can easily identify this by looking in the panel or pulling several outlets/switch out of a box and examining the wire ends.
