We NEVER split a deposit...it is reconciled ONLY when entire unit is vacated, and at that time any remaining is paid by one check to all parties named on most recent agreement or any superseding addendum.Your initial agreement SHOULD have addressed joint and several liability, which means every tenant is responsible for 100% of the rent, regardless if the other skips out or gets run over by a bus.
