I'm having a hard time finding contractors who can handle the framing portion of the project (flooring joists, laying subfloor, walls, roofing system) who aren't also general contractors.

Once I closed on the property I started to tear down the walls and notice that had no insulation, at that point I decided I going to tear  everything up. when I took the sheetrock from the ceiling, I was in shock to see that some electric work was done with duct tape.

For example if there's a door connecting their unit to your unit you would need to either wall that off or replace with a fire door and keep that bolted.

I may be wrong, but unless you are modifying square feet, you don't need to pull permits inside the 4 walls, unless you're doing electrical/plumbing?
