Many people don't know that in addition to national fair housing law, states and municipalities may have additional protected classes (for example, in Austin TX we have local additions to fair housing that cover sexual orientation, status as a student, and others)There are resources from the national apartment association (and through many state and local associations) specifically geared to educating and supporting independent rental owners (usually regarded as having less than 100 units).

I do know it was easier before than now to get to the US but the US is still better than Canada.I'm tired of paying for people who abuse our social system and I get nothing plus having a PM who is a complete idiot and is stealing Canadian money and forcing our ecoomy to collapse.

He needs to sign a roommate off lease agreement and she signs that also, and the security deposit is listed as it stays on account with the remaining tenant.FYI,, in MN a person with a Domestic Abuse Case can give notice and basically vacate FAST, with proof of the case regardless of lease term, all that's required is that rent is paid up until date they leave, no penalty. ( if I remember correctly).Which stinks for landlords.. but protects the victim from continued abuse and the abuser from finding out where they moved to, and keeps them from returning to harass.
