Just in case you don't know,  right of redemption means that the owner that was foreclosed on has a certain period of time usually a year to come back and claim the property, which almost never happens but there is a possibility for them to do so.

I'm not doubting them as I completely believe their stories, it's the fact that they're just in their twenties when they are making these purchases.

Just in my searching, I was able to find some land available in a not terrible location for around 30K.

My advice would be to shoot for a higher number than $800, just in case.
