So hence the cowboy house was born out of this and this was one of our more fun projects!

The same may apply for putting the house into a trust.

If I put all of my eggs in one basket (Florida in this case), paid off property and a hurricane blows everything away, FEMA is nowhere to be found and the insurance companies take years to pay what little claims they actually do pay, I suffer through it in a blown out house.

I sold my company two years ago and I'm looking for investment opportunities in the real estate space, specifically single-family houses.

I have found that Redfin actually has pretty good search parameters to where you can look for listings that have been sitting a while that fit your buy box, and you can even do keyword searches for things like "as is", "investor", "seller financing", "guest house", etc. depending on what you are looking for.
