I think self-insurance probably makes sense once you reach a certain point of financial reserves, if you are disciplined and put a certain amount each month to cover the inevitable damage.

You get the idea...It takes discipline to be an investor, but discipline can be learned.I find that when you write it out and you see what it takes to achieve your goal it becomes a lot more real and that motivates me.
