Of course, tourism has always been one of our biggest industry and the last few years...at least in certain areas...have also seen more and more landlords turning their rentals into vacation rentals instead of the more traditional long-term type of rental.

But you're also coming from a place of not understanding what you are doing when you do this.By overpaying relative to the value there, because the worth to you is so much less, you trap people into tourism jobs instead of jobs that will help their economy.

Here in Greater Vancouver, I can see why properties are so high in demand: job opportunities (IT, trades, year-round tourism, etc.), colleges/universities, lifestyle (skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing), mild weather (rarely ever have to shovel snow!)
