@Dan Mackin that’s good to know about the year long lease. As well as finding a “by the room renter” friendly lender. I’ll get on both those!

@James Carlson thank you!

And yes I’m worried about tax season the following year..

of that $16k saved from house hacking.. would that not be added income? And wouldn’t we expect to pay taxes on that additional income?

@Jerry Padilla. Yes, thank you, but should I put away 20% to pay in taxes at the end of the year..

Can I House house (rent by the room) and use that income to purchase our next rental property?

What can we expect to pay in taxes from our first year of house hacking? Trying to gauge how much of to put aside and how much we can use for a second property.

@Will Barnard

Hi 👋

I’m new to the RE investing world.

I see your from the same town as me, and was wondering if you knew of any meets up in SCV.

Looking to learn as much as possible, any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

@Bryan Clement

1. We failed to finish paying off our car. But are otherwise now debt free as of 2019.

2. Network with as many people as possible in the Santa Clarita, Ca area- and surrounding areas. Research/study while we gather our down for our first investment property. (House hacking begins in Feb. 2020!)

@Emma Ross how did you use only a 5% down to purchase?

I was under the impression you need 20% for investment properties?

(Sorry, newbie here.)
