@Kathy Henley, thanks for the tips and tricks. I don't think I've looked on Craigslist at all so that's a great insight

Hey All,

I've heard that, at times and for various reasons, families are willing to sell inherited homes under market value. This feels like it may be a win win in some situations.

I've Googled how to find inherited properties but haven't gotten a clear answer from the buying standpoint. Plenty of ads or sites for selling but not so much buying.

How do y'all find inherited properties?

Thank You,

T

Thanks @Alvin Taveras for the starting point. I did some google searching too and found some but speaking to a local agent, they likely have more insight.

If I go this way it would be for a primary residence as either townhome or detached single family. Is that what you are asking or are there more parts I may not have thought of?

Hey BP,

Where can I find out about new construction? I want to know if the area I'll be heading to in NJ has any new developments planned or maybe even in progress. Are there any areas on BP, or other sites that I can track that info down?

Thank You,
Tom

@Andrew Postell - There are certainly many questions. Thank you for laying some of those out and giving a starting point - find a lender!
Looking at your profile, you have experience in real estate (an understatement really), but from a lending point of view, do you know if there are any ways to avoid PMI? This may be a simple google type question but looking at your page I get the sense you can answer this generally (I realize, this may come down to specific lenders and specific circumstance though)

Hi BP,

My fiance is a veterinarian and because of this has little savings in the bank. I think this is a problem most people with advanced degrees may have, but has anyone gotten any special mortgage or loans for this - I've heard of 'Professional Loans' - is this a thing? We are planning to purchase a home in NJ next year, but would love to hear what others have to say or if anyone else has come across this.

Also, what tax advantages are there to purchasing after marriage vs before?

Thank You,
Tom
