Hey Joana Ortega welcome to BP, this site is a great way to network with people. I'm in the metro Atlanta area as well! Check out the forums, there's a lot of great info there.

@Flavio Garcia, welcome to BP! One of the best decisions you can make if you want to get started in REI, you've already done: coming to Bigger Pockets. There are so much awesome people here that actually want to help, which makes it easy to ask for help. I'm not as young as you, but I'm only 26 myself so I'm still fairly young compared to a big majority of the other folks here on BP. Learn and absorb all you can, connecting with other people here makes all the difference! Also, the Podcasts are AWESOME! Check those out too.

I'm definitely going to do my best to be there, I've been looking for a meet up group pretty religiously and haven't been able to find one, I'm brand spanking new to real estate investing, so I hope to be able to get around some like-minded people and get the ball rolling!

@Richard Balsam, thank you so much for the response. All good information given, I really appreciate it. That makes it seem like a no brainer! And thanks for clarifying the relationship between the agent and broker. I took it as being "employed" by them, meant just that, that I was working for them and reporting to them like they were my boss.

I've read that in Georgia it's basically the same as it is for you. I just didn't know if there was some way around it. If there's not, no biggie. It'd be nice to have for the convenience, I've just got to find the time to take the classes. I work full time and am in college full time too, so time is not my friend lol.

Hey Everybody! Quick question, just want to pick y'alls brain for a minute. I'm new to Bigger Pockets and new to Real Estate investing, haven't bought any property yet since I'm still in the learning process...ANYWAY..I'm curious about getting my real estate license for the access to MLS and not having to schedule visits with agents to be able to see a house, BUT I'm not thrilled about having to work for a broker..is that something I have to do to be licensed? Can I not just go through the process to get it and only use it for the reasons I want? I don't really have an interest in being an agent, but I do want some of those agents perks. I'm wondering if I need to just bite the bullet and do it, or find an agent that wouldn't mind helping me out.
