@Kris Mead, in my opinion Columbus is a much different market than all others in Ohio. It is incredibly hot. That's great if you own property there, but I think you'll find it very difficult to purchase cash-flowing properties right now. Cincinnati, is easily second on the list as far as a growing market that is very competitive, but I still think you can purchase cash-flowing properties right now. All of the other markets are similar in my opinion. I think you can find good, cash-flowing properties in all. I would suggest that you work through BP to find some good connections in one or two of those markets. Because there is not that much difference between these markets, I would go with this one where you're able to establish a good team. Good luck and God bless!

@Krystal Marquez congrats on getting started! That's the hardest part and you've already done it! My advice would be to stick to one area. If you've had success with your first property and if you've found a good property management company (this is of utmost importance!), then I would stick with this area. I've heard really good things about Chattanooga as a rental market anyway!

@Tony Gorokhovsky I think you've chosen a great market in which to invest! BUT, don't tell too many of your NY friends please! Haha... but seriously. Anyway, I'd love to connect with you. We closed on a 45-unit a month ago and are about to get a 47-unit under contract.

@Nicolas Beck congrats on the 20 units! I use Ryan White with Buyer's Inspection Service. He's a great guy and a really good inspector. I've used him on all 4 of my MF purchases and I've been very happy.

Hey @Evan Carrico, it's great that you're interested in getting started in REI at such a young age. I think house-hacking is the best way for a young guy like you to get started. My friend, Bryce Stewart, was just on the BP Podcast and he wrote a book about house-hacking. I would suggest you read that book or another like it.

Thanks for the mention @Adam Lacey! I agree with much of what has been said in this thread. The midwest is a great place to invest for cash-flow and appreciation! And, maybe most important as we seem to be at the top of the market/business cycle, the midwest doesn't crash like many growth markets and coast markets.

Good point @Account Closed and I totally agree with you that "RE is a great asset in an inflationary environment." For this reason, I'm still buying apartment buildings right now! But, I'm going in knowing that a crash is absolutely possible.

@Steven Kassler, my advice would be to start with forming a relationship with a couple brokers and finding a good PM company. Attempt to do this in each market you are truly interested in. Based on which market you are able to so this most successfully, that is the market I would invest in if I were you.
