Eventually, you run out of reasons to hold back.

When I was W2, I once saw this poster in a head-hunter's office: "Consider the tortoise who makes no progress until he sticks his neck out."

Great quote!

Thanks for the insight, David.

Once I found this site, I purchased Brandon Turners books, the book on rental property investing and managing rental property. I have download the first 100 podcasts and try to listen to them once a day.

We only have 2 SFR's and we learn more and more every time we either remodel or bring in new tenants. We decided to go all in and we are closing on our 3rd and just bid on a duplex.

Bigger Pockets has taught me so much, Honestly I feel everyone here is my mentor. This forum is great so much knowledge out there waiting for you to ask the questions

As Michael Jordan Says "I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.

 Definitely.

There's a lot of wonderful resources here. Like you, there's just going to come that point where I'm simply going to have to take the plunge and trust that I can do this. I agree that this place is flush with knowledge and it seems to pay off in spades!

I appreciate the insight!

Thanks for that Mr. Harris. I'm a fan of your postings around here. I've tried a few initial searches and have turned up dry unfortunately. I think there's a rei meeting in my city next Tuesday so I want to try and go to that and see if I can connect with anyone.

I'm still working on preparing myself to hit the pavement if nothing turns up, that way I can keep moving forward.

I appreciate the insight you guys provide around here.

Ask yourself, have you taken all the steps to analyze houses, visit houses, make offers etc. If you have, what are some of things you can do differently?

If you have not, then ask yourself why?

You are a BP plus member, which shows you are willing to commit. Use the forums, get educated and most importantly take action. Find an experienced investor in your area, and offer your value. Ask to be mentored. Pay them for their time if you can't add value to their business. Most seasoned investors are happy to help people with less experience.

Good luck in your RE journey, and to your success!

Thanks a ton! I figure the point will come where I will just have to dive in. I have a REI meeting coming up next month, however I can't say for sure when I'd find a mentor. A part of me really sees the value in having guidance, but another part also wonders what if I never find that person? Then what is the plan? Ha.

I guess what I'm learning is that the point may come where I'll have to trust myself and learn as I go and that I can't exactly wait for someone to take me step by step. That may never come. I'll just have to get comfortable with the fact I may (will) mess up along the way ha.

Thanks for the insight!

Hey!

I wanted to start this thread to get some insight as to what I should do about approaching that point that so many starting out do - The point when the fire to invest starts to dwindle as you approach information overload and start to reconsider investing at all.

It feels like a gun ready to be fired but without aim.

I certainly don't expect anyone to set aside time to mentor me or the like, as I'm sure for many successful investors, time is money (as it should be.) Though it would be nice to have some guidance. I guess I'm just reaching the point where I'm refusing to let myself get intimidated into quitting and just going for it. My biggest fear is yet again being paralyzed into doing nothing. I can't let it happen again.

To all of the investors here, at what point do you just prepare to earn your stripes in the event you can't find the guidance you need? Are there any new investors feeling this way as well?

I'm not too proud to make mistakes or get embarrassed as I learn. My future is way more important right now. I'm desperate.

Friday night my mothers house, which is located between Blackwater road and the Comite River, took on 4' of river water. She has lived in that house for 37 years and made it through several floods without the house taking on water. For that reason, she didn't even have flood insurance. She's with me now in my 3rd floor condo in a dry part of town. Funny how things work out. Hope you all are safe. We'll need a good contractor though, so PM me if you know someone who can get started quick.

I understand that feeling, Gerald.

My mother lives a few miles from there. We happened to get 3-4 feet as well. I really don't feel like thinking about all the work that needs to be done, ha. I'll absolutely give you a shout if I come by any great contractors.

Hey, guys.

I hope everyone down in Louisiana is faring ok during these historic floods.

I never in my life thought things could ever get this bad. A lot of my family/friends have lost their homes, but thankfully have made it out ok.

I wanted to start this thread as kind of a 'check in' for everyone, and just making sure everyone is ok.

Here's also a list of numbers from those supporting with rescue efforts:

I work for Apple Inc. :)

Hey, Alex.

If that's what you got going on, it definitely seems like you have your hands full! I'm local down here too and working on getting my feet wet in real estate investing.

I'm actively working on gaining more experience. If you ever need a free hand, I'd love to help out!
