Welcome to the BP Fam! It's great to see you're interested in RE investing at your age and early in your AF career. I'm active duty AF as well and I wish I would have started at your age. I suggest smartly using your VA entitlement by buying a duplex or 4-plex property if that's the route you want to take. @Elizabeth Cosgrove talks about using your VA entitlement on BP podcast 103.

Get active in the forums, keep reading up on real estate, and listen to all the BP podcasts. Good luck on your REI venture!

@Bill Gulley: Thank you for all the points you highlighted! I did like your blog post TIC, TAC, TOE, and am looking forward to more of your blog posts in the future. I can't wait to learn more from you and your website https://generalrealestateacademy.com. It's awesome seeing someone with your knowledge and expertise taking your time to answer questions from all the newbies like myself! Cheers!!

Wecome to the BP fam, @Dustin Pickering! Listen to all the The BiggerPockets Podcast - they are great for learning how others are finding success. And be sure to set up some Keyword Alerts- especially for your area so you'll be notified when people mention it here in the forums.

Good luck on your REI venture!

Welcome to the BP fam! Since you are planning on using the buy and hold strategy, you should look into utilizing your VA loan to it's maximum threshold if you haven't already. @Elizabeth Colegrove has used the strategy and talks about it in podcast 103.

Also, I'm following an interesting forum post titled, "TSP or Rental Properties?" started by @Chance Cooper. There are some interesting points about diversifying.

Listen to all the BP podcasts, read a whole bunch of forum post and blogs, and read up on real estate books. Good luck on your REI journey!

Welcome to the BP fam! That's great that your husband is a contractor since I always hear/see some horror stories about contractors. Get involved on this site to build some connections. Do a lot of searching and reading throughout the blogs and forums. Listen to all the BP podcasts as well (there are over 150 of them).

Good luck on your REI venture!

Welcome to the BP fam! What aspect of REI are you leaning towards?

To start out, you should do A LOT of reading here on the BP forums and blogs because there is a ton of great info here. Also, look for some good RE books. BP offers some free ones and some that you pay for. Listen to the BP podcasts as often as you can (there are over 150 episodes now that are approx. an hour each).

Good luck on your REI venture!

If you're going to use the buy and hold route, take advantage of you and your husband's VA loan benefits! @Elizabeth Colegrove has acquired some properties doing it and has a website you can check out (http://www.reluctantlandlord.net). She was also a guest on the BP podcast (show 103) that had some good info.

@Bill Gulley - can you provide your candid expertise, please?
