Post: Home Renovation in Miami

Hello, does anyone have any recommendations for trusted contracting companies in the Miami area? My family would like our grandparents home built in 1964 fully renovated and upgraded. We would like this done the right way so we would prioritize quality over price. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

@Mike Williams

I emailed him back a follow up question which addressed how many non-related individuals can live in the same single family home and he did not mention a max number so I am assuming whatever the state maximum is that's what it would probably be. But I believe Mid-term and long term rentals with a single family home are both acceptable in Bartow County and would not require a license like a short term rental does.

Thanks for the informative responses @Lawrence Potts, @Ryan Lesley, and @Michael Dumler. That's great news to hear I should still be able to do Mid-term/Long-term rentals with a SFR in this area!

@Allan Smith Thanks for the reply and that's what I was planning on doing but his response made it seem like this was not legal and therefore not possible.

I recently asked the AICP (zoning officer) for Bartow County (north of Atlanta, Ga) about the process of renting out rooms in a single family home for house hacking and what I would need to do. This was his response:

I planned on house hacking with a 4+ bedroom SFR near Cartersville, Ga, but it does not look like it is legal in the county. Has anyone else come across this problem or has an idea as to how I could make it work? Also, is house hacking a SFR with the rent by the room strategy legal in any county near Atlanta, Ga? Any information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I am a senior in college (22 years old) and recently accepted a job which I will start at the end of June 2023 (roughly 8 months) and I plan to buy a single family home to house hack in the location I will be moving to. I do not have a credit card and have never owned one and I am wondering if I should get one now and start building up my credit score before buying a home. I plan to use an FHA loan but have not started the process of getting approved and I do not know what my credit score is right now. Please let me know if you think I should start the process of raising my credit score now while I have at least six months before I will purchase a house or if it is not necessary for a first time home buyer. Feel free to leave any other advice for someone looking to house hack in a single family home for the first time. Thanks!
