It is definitely a great learning and networking resource that's for sure. Congrats on getting your RE license btw!

I too am currently working for a small brokerage that specializes in Property Management and Sales in St. Petersburg.

As several have stated, training is definitely of great importance when starting off.

Being that I am at a smaller establishment they did not have a training program set in place so I kind of have been learning as I go.

I would definitely find a place that offers training and support, because someone can give you all the training in the world but as soon as you run into real world problems and you do not have anyone to go to with questions... you get lost and may get discouraged.

Brian Hunter my impression of the REI meeting was pretty good, didn't know what to expect at first but it was interesting. It seemed like real life Monopoly where people had properties for sale or trade etc. Learned a few new vocabulary terms I'd never heard of and saw some of the bigger players in the local market.

Thanks Brandon Turner! I have been reading the Kindle version you guys recently released, it has definitely been of help. Also the podcasts and your Youtube videos are great learning tools too.

I am currently working on finding a mentor in the area, I feel that I have skills and/or time to offer in exchange for being taught or shown the ropes. I am hoping I can connect with someone here at BP or at a REI meeting that would be willing to educate.

Thanks again for putting this together as a sort of roadmap for those wanting to turn a dream into reality!

Welcome! I too am a newbie from the area, there are a lot of tools available here on BP.

Hi everyone! I am a beginner trying to find the best path for myself in real estate investing. I would like to make connections and build relationships that would allow me to learn and grow as a real estate investor.

I have been doing a lot of reading on here, listening to podcasts, and have recently started to attend a local REI meeting in St. Petersburg.

It is definitely overwhelming for a newbie to digest all of this information and actually take steps or take action, but I am doing my best to learn as much as I can.

Anyone here on BP investing in the Tampa/St. Pete area?
