California Market Data June 2017, ~10% increase in price, Bay Area
The table shows the most recent SFH sale statistics in CA. I am located on the Peninsula between SF and San Jose. So I only focus on this particular region, namely Peninsula, East Bay areas.
Towards the end of 2016, there seems to be a slowdown in the pricing for SFH in the bay area. However, starting 2017 spring season, the price has recovered and improved over ~10% as compared to 2016.
I personally saw this happending the last few months, where SFH in San Mateo county was bid up significantly. It is not a surprise that the published market data lags the on-ground observations by a few months, due to the time lag to collect all the data and publish them.
IMO: Bay area market will see another record year in 2017. Whether it is a peak or bubble that is open to discussion.
