Make a Personal Connection

I have met many amazing people while working in this business. I have read many interesting books on networking, sales and marketing. If I could boil down into one sentence the most important aspect of working with others in business, it's "Make a personal connection"

I will give you an example within our office. We do events throughout the year and they often involve our salespeople as the front and center of our company for these meetings. Yet, when they go to any event they are instructed at all costs, do not sell at the event, make a connection, and there has been a great deal of success in growing our business that way.

Therefore, the next time you are negotiating a deal, meeting someone at a party, conference or event, or hoping to become business partners with someone, put the business aside at first, make that personal connection and your success rate will grow.
