DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH! Loan mods to unemployed?

I listend to the President the other day,  when he asked the banks to start offering some type loan modification to those who have NO job.  Am I crazy but isn't this how we got into this trouble in the first place?

As a marketing technique,  I have been offering loan mods for FREE.  It might sound crazy but out of any 10 people who call,  most are candidates for Short Sales.  The few who can legitimately qualify for a loan mod,  we help them package their paperwork and try to get them moving in the right direction.  And, if they find out they can't qualify,  several of them decide that Short Sale is their best way out.

We have done about 5 successful loan mods but our current problem is that we are working with three (3) very qualified families.   They are EMPLOYED and have steady long term jobs.  They are making less than they used to but all three are not behind on their payments.  but,  they are getting further behind each month.  We have documented every thing in a very professional way, including an index;  a doc ID,  their name and loan number on every page.   We write a much more complete hardship letter than most agents (or even banks) suggest.  Since you get pushed all over the bank upfront and what we tell one person,  never gets passed on to the next person.  Briefly,  it starts with their past successful payments (e.g. why the bank made them the loan in the first place),  where they are now on monthly cash flow,  what they have done to cut back,  and how financially strong they are now and their ability to make a lower payment.  Several have even complimented them on how compete our files are.

So,  what is the problem?  We still have no loan mods after working on these for 5 months,  6 months and 8 months,  respectively.  Even with the volume that I suspect these banks have,  there is no excuse for this delay.  One of them has even agreed to a loan mod but told the borrower on Friday that the final paperwork might take another month.

And,  these are people with income,  good credit and good documentation and the banks stuggle to handle their loan modification.  And,  the President thinks banks will make loan mods to people who are unemployed?
