Oh man what am I doing?!

So this all started out one day when I told my girlfriend Christie that I had a free credit available on audible and was not sure what I should get because nothing interested me. She knew that I have been always interested in stocks since I am a very active trader currently and suggested to just get another one of those. So I typed in "investing" into the search bar and then this big book with yellow letters was staring at me in the face, "NO MONEY DOWN" it exclaimed! Could it be? Could I really invest in real estate with little or no money down?

I had once worked in the trades both doing carpentry and cabinet making, construction, as well as landscape design and building and absolutely loved those jobs to where they became not only a hobby of mine but also a passion. So why not combine two of my three passions, investing and trade work, and see if I can make a buck off of it. So I downloaded it and began to listen only planning on cleaning the garage for 30 minutes before I turned it off. Next thing I know 30 minutes turned into 45, then 60, then next thing you know I finished the entire audio while sitting in my chair in the garage barely getting any cleaning done. I was hooked!

I had to know more about real estate investing, it has always been an interest of mine but I thought you already had to have money to do that, either 20% down payments or enough to buy a fixer-upper with cash. So I followed the book's advice and came here to biggerpockets.com and started poking around and decided to create a free account. I started to peruse the community section and saw a wonderful community of investors helping each other out. Amazing! I thought, here seem to be some people who have just started or getting ready to start and are receiving free advice from experienced pros. I thought you had to pay thousands of dollars to a guru to lecture for a few hours to get this type of advice.

Next thing I know a gentleman reaches out and says if I am interested he is willing to help me along my journey and answer any questions I had. So we meet up and have a few drinks and begin to talk. Now at this point, I was in information overload and starting to get confused. "Listen to the podcast," he told me, "they will really help set you up on a step by step process".

So I listen and listen and listen and can't stop listening. Oh, my god, a lot of these people are like me, they enjoy their job but wanted more, more freedom. Even Brandon just wanted to have more time with his family and future kids. Well that what I want, I want to get my future wife, Christie, out of that job she hates to go to every day. I want to drop down to being only a part-time paramedic and travel more, read more, build more furniture.

So here I am, excited and eager to learn! I can't get enough of this stuff, I even eventually signed up for a pro membership so I can go look at old webinars and use the calculators to practice as much as possible. I am ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who is willing to talk my ear off. I will be logging my journey from no experience or knowledge to my first deal and hopefully until my retirement from real estate investing!

Please feel free to reach out to me with anything you want to me to share, or any criticism on my writing or deals or if you just want to go down to the pub and grab a few and talk, my treat!
