Healthy Tips to Sell Your Home During Flu Season

Suffering from sore throat and cough?

Or you are feeling feverish with that runny nose?

Don’t overlook these symptoms!

Even though the influenza season has peaked, yet it is important to notice that flu activity is still elevated in the entire U.S. region. The below graph explains that highest number of influenza outbreaks were observed in 6th week. However, you can also see that 12th week also exhibit an equivalent ratio. Moreover, it is expected to continue for several weeks.

And the worst thing is that almost every state is reporting influenza outbreaks. Clearly, it looks worse than the last year's relatively mild season. Being most widespread in the northwest, including regions like California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, it is also existing in some parts of the northeast and mid-Atlantic. So, you need to be careful and prevent it from occurring at the initial stage itself.

While there is a lot to consider in this FLU season, selling your home can be a tedious process, isn’t it? Buyers are super-conscious these days. Definitely, they won’t be interested in buying a home which is untidy and prone to germs.

Hence, if you want to entice buyers in the FLU season as well, here are some top tips to help keep your home buyer ready.

Stock Disinfectant Wipes/ Hand Sanitizer

The bad news about influenza is that it is highly transmissible. It can easily survive on hard surfaces, including your door knobs, handles, and even countertops.

However, the good news is that it can be easily killed using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and if nothing is available, you can use a good old soap and water. Thus, make it a practice that after each showing, you wipe down all handles, cabinet pulls, light switches, doorknobs, and everything you think had been touched by a prospective buyer.

Put Away Your Personal Stuff

Don’t let your toothbrush, dental floss or any other personal item spoil your deal. You need to neatly place all your personal hygiene items and keep them out of reach. So, if you have mugs and dishes hanging out in your space, it might ruin your sale.

Keep a Shoe-Less Environment

Yes, shoes are among the biggest culprits, bringing in all kinds of nastiness into your home. From dust and plain old dirt to those bacteria and toxins, they carry every unwanted particle inside. Do you know that viruses survive better on your shoes than on your toilet?

So, by now, it might be pretty clear that keeping your shoes inside the house is not a cool idea. Next time, you enter your home,

  • Remove your shoes
  • Wash your hands after it
  • And then encourage the potential buyers to do the same gently.

You can also stash a set of paper booties, use rugs or mats at all entrances to keep dirt and grit out.

Avoid those Appetizers

You need to be a good host, but not at the cost of their health, right? If the season was fine, you could have baked some cookies to impress them. But now, you need to remember that the more food and drinks you pass around, more you will be passing around those viruses.

In any case, you had to serve some cookies or snacks, make sure you go for plastic or paper plates and disposable utensils.

Clean and Disinfected Linens

Even if the prospective buyers aren't using your sheets, there are good chances of them touching your pillows, blankets, and towels. If not daily, at least once a week, wash your bedding, toss pillows, blankets and towels with the hottest settings turned on. Don’t forget to dry to sanitize them.

Once you are into practice of doing all the afore-stated actions, you can ensure great health for your home, and of course, the buyers visiting around. This season, keep your home germ-free and sale it out easily.
