Utilities: power on. Water pending.

DAY 4

Turned on power at the local utility.

Water company - called. Need to take ID, proof of purchase and current account information down to the City Hall to open new account. They are turning off water today. Running out of time today and will have to take documents and go out tomorrow.

Called mold remediation company ServPro who advertise that they do cleanup and restoration, at 321-409-9441. They said to fix the water problem first and then call them. They will fix whatever they remove, in terms of sheetrock or flooring. I asked about the wood surfaces whether they hold mold and they said that they can sand down surfaces that hold spores. That’s pretty much the entire house! They will ask for a $250 deposit to prepare a bid. Call them back once the water situation in the house is fixed.

Talked with Window guy, from Property Renovations and Construction. He was already out to talk through the process on the day before we closed, and he said at that time that he’d have to get inside to measure up so that he has good measurements.  He called again today to let me know he hadn’t forgotten about me, just had a lot on his plate.  He will prepare a bid today, and has been busy.  It is imperative that we stop water intrusion at this house and get some quality windows in.

I called my handyman, Lloyd, and asked him what he wants to do: project-manage, tear out, or what. He wants me to call him back later tonight. He will meet me on Saturday at the house.  This house is far from his home, and he has another project that he's working on.  We will be flexible with him, as his finish is high quality.

Big Name Local Construction Guy. He contacted us through the set of Realtors we used on this house, and he’d like to be part of the restoration of the house. He’d been inside with another set of buyers, and said he has some great ideas for the house.  I called him back, and he was at Disney.  And he has not gotten back in touch with me.  I'll continue to fall forward without him.

I need to make a plug to my fabulous Realtor, Scott Schuetz of Hoven Real Estate.  He's here on BP, too, and continues to up his game and to raise the bar on his professional goals.  Thanks, Scott!   I'm still glad to be on this journey!
