Stimulus Package Passes Senate 61-37

UPDATE: Due in no small part to some rational thought and behavior and actually acting on behalf of their constituencies by our Maine republican senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, the proposed stimulus package has just been passed by the senate. The measure now heads back to the house for reconciliation with the house bill. Of primary interest to this readership is whether the $15,000 Home Buyer Tax Credit will stand the scrutiny of the house, which had proposed a $7,500 credit it its version of the bill.

You can make a difference: contact your congressperson (list here) to voice your support for this bill. If you have an interest in real estate -- whether you're representing a buyer looking for a bit of assistance to help justify investing in a new home, or you're working with a seller hoping that such an incentive to a buyer will help you sell your client's property -- you really can make a difference by calling, or emailing, your representative. After all, they're YOUR representatives. More about this historic vote here. More on this and more at eBooks About Real Estate.

  1. David - Would you happen to know how the voting was split in terms of party affiliation? BTW - Its much easier to get votes from across the aisle in the Senate, where Senators have much larger, mixed constituencies.
