How to Live a “Value-centric” Life

Normal 1562072977 How To Live A Value Centric Life

The road to self-fulfillment is paved with obstacles. Come to think of it, life wouldn’t be complete without having to go through frustrating challenges. I always believe in the fact that challenges are essential to growth. If you want to succeed and accomplish your goals, you need to work hard for it - even if it leaves you beaten and battered.

To survive these trials, it’s important that you change your perspective and overhaul your mindset. You cannot succeed if you keep holding on to a mindset that’s counterproductive to your goals. One way for you to get rid of it is to lead what I would call as a value-centric life.

What is a value-centric life?

People tend to see life as just an amalgamation of different goals that should be accomplished. Once you complete a goal, you move on to the next. Many would treat life as just a factory where they spend time producing goals without even acknowledging their value.

Let me give you an example. Let’s say your goal is to gain wealth. You might as well explore various investment options such as stocks or, in my case, rental housing. Now, give yourself five years (give or take) and your investment will be self-sustaining.

Then again, what happens next after you have earned your first million? The problem with is that a lot of people view their goals as just items on a checklist. You cross out one so you can move along with the other.

Life isn’t supposed to be lived that way. It has to revolve around the value of your actions and why they matter. In this sense, a value-centric life is one that sees deeper meaning and purpose in your journey towards self-fulfillment. But how do you exactly go about it? Let me share a few insights that should help you.

1. Be of service to others

Our actions can impact the lives of other people. No matter how small, the decisions we make every day can be a positive force for change. You see, value isn’t just a personal thing. It’s also a social one. Your goals can influence people and it’s on account of this simple fact that you should strive to give people a new lease in life.

In my experience, acquiring a great deal of wealth doesn’t lead to a substantial existence. I realize then when I started in the multifamily investing game that I have enough resources to help people. Thankfully, I have found the right avenues to help the youth here in the US and in India. No doubt, I find value in what I do because eventually the actions and decisions I take add value to the lives of others.

2. Create something sustainable

Nothing in this world is permanent. Everything will fade away somehow. Still, this shouldn’t stop you from creating something that’s permanent. There is value in the things that last a long time. So, it’s always best to build something that people will remember you by.

Your legacy is what defines your value towards the world and other people. For this reason alone, you will need to walk through life leaving footprints that never fade. You can do this by simply being kind, industrious, generous, friendly, and sympathetic. These traits, for sure, will let people know the kind of person that you are. They will always keep you in mind whenever things get difficult.

3. Be proactive in teaching the youth

The world will have to depend on young people for its survival. So, let us spend this time to nurture them into being faithful stewards. In everything that you do, you should be able to realize that young people see value in the actions you take. It’s only a matter of showing them examples of positive virtues which they can use to build the society of tomorrow.

As you work towards achieving your goals, it’s important that you touch the lives of young people everywhere and show them the way towards a brighter future. You can do this by being decent and honest in achieving your goals, as well as motivating young people to accomplish their goals and lead a “value-centric” life!
