Today begins.... An Introduction

Hello fellow BP members. This blog, hopefully, will help other Newbies or those in a slump get through. For the rest, you can remember and laugh at those times when you were there yourself. Next month, you will find me in the process, or watching "Dancing With The Stars"!

I am a member, not because I want to be rich. (Really??) OK money helps and is one result stemming from the process as laid out by Josh Dorkin and Brandon Turner, and revised, re-tuned, and redesigned by countless others to their benefit.

As I learn the process, I will write my observations. I don't offer advice or tips, not because I don't have any, but those far more knowledgeable than I will supply them with greater effect. What I will offer are my observations, lessons, failures, successes, joys, and heartaches. Think of this as "The "Real" estate Investors of Beaumont". And I hope I don't bore you - if your ears start bleeding or you scream in pain, I will stop mercifully.

Today, a short observation about Process.

I was listening to some famous people speak, actors, entrepreneurs, Tony Robbins, etc. Some had come from very disadvantaged circumstances (as did I). All had countless voices tell them that their particular pursuit of happiness was not possible for them specifically. Anytime they wanted to do something new, they had multiple adversaries.

Yet they succeeded - every time. That is, they achieved their goal, simply by engaging in process. Someone's grandfather might say, "Put your nose to the grindstone -(ouch! unless you have a big nose you want to lose) Your Hand to the Plow!" That's process - learning step by step - walking, riding a bike, etc.

A Zen concept is "The Target draws and guides the arrow." Christopher Columbus, much maligned these days, sadly, is a classic example. His vision, to find a trade route to India. Never mind the Flat Earth Society, he was going west, young man! Each day, he wrote lengthy logs in his book. One day, there was no such log; only a blank page inscribed with these words: "Today we sailed west, for it is our course."

Crew on the verge of mutiny, himself assailed by doubt, yet he kept to his process. And of course, he failed - Bigly.  No route to India, only a small land hitherto only known to its natives and a few Vikings.

And so today, my process is to find any houses in my area, simply for the exercise of "Assess and Caress". Analyze 5 properties financially and structurally. What changes are necessary, and artistically, how would that look? My design skills being limited, that will be a stretch. No, my goal is not to be rich; it is simply to follow the process, and over time, wealth will be a byproduct. You might be different. Posting a picture of a 70 foot Ocean Alexander on your fridge might motivate you. I wish you all well and happiness.

Tomorrow - our survival instincts.
