What do I need first

I have decided to learn about wholesaling and I would like to know if I am suppose to get a real estate license so that I can legally start wholesaling. I've read in some states its different laws and some people have told me that you don't need one and others say you do so could someone inform me on the truth I live in Selma Alabama which is where I am planning on start once I learn a lot more information
