Moving to Charleston, SC

Hello everyone, I have recently accepted a new job and will soon be moving to Charleston, SC. As part of my move I am considering various options for living arrangements. I have always had an interest in real estate investing, but have never acted on it. This move could be the perfect opportunity for me begin my journey. My current idea would be to house hack with the purchase a fourplex. If anyone has any experience with house hacking in the Charleston area or knowledge that they would be willing to share, I would love to connect! I am currently still located in PA but will be moving within the next month hopefully.

@Darin Gordon congratulations on the new position.  Get with a couple of real estate agents in that market.  A good, experienced realtor will know the market well and they should also have some local lenders to refer you to to get prequalified as well.  You can even click on the "Find An Agent" button at the top of the BP page to see realtors in the area.  Realtor first, conversation on market/areas, then prequalification to make sure you can buy in those areas.  That's my suggestion.  Thanks!

@Darin Gordon welcome! With conforming loan limits the Duplex / House hacking option is tough in Charleston, SC market, but there are lots of good single family options that I believe still have a lot of running room left for growth in valuations over the next 10 years!

@Darin Gordon I just listed/sold a quadplex that would have been great and I'm talking to someone considering selling another one.  I don't have an agreement signed yet but send my your contact info and I'll let you know when I do.  And yes, welcome to Charleston!  Where are you from in PA?  I grew up in Springfield, outside Philly.

@Darin Gordon hey! Fellow house hacker here and I've helped several other clients find house hacks. Starting November 18th, You can now put 5% down on a quadplex with a conventional loan as well! Happy to help.
