Yellow Letter Campaigns

I am slowing learning all I can about Real Estate and have heard of 'yellow letter' campaigns. My parents own their house free and clear and actually received one of these letters in the mail. I am wondering what is the theory behind them? They thought it was some kind of a scam as did my siblings. I also thought it didn't seem very professional and I doubt would get me to make a call. Why do people think this is a way to attract sellers?

Thanks

Good question and one that most investors don't ask.  A yellow letter is supposed to present a sense of personalization as if someone wrote a letter from a legal pad of paper.  This became popular as the go-to real estate investor DM technique and most investors just follow this because they think it's the best solution.  In actuality, yellow letter have saturated the market which has certainly reduced it's effectiveness.

I send out a lot of DM for my business and always send unique mailing pieces to stand out from my competition.  As a result, it's a more professional, creative piece that gets better results.
