Polk County Iowa - Tax Sale for 2020 still delayed
Just read the Polk County Iowa, Board of Supervisors resolution from September 1, 2020 about the Tax Sale that was delayed in June 2020.
It sounds like maybe the tax sale will happen the Third Monday in November of this year.
But Polk Co is just now, sending out tax statements for the Sept 2020 and March 2021 taxes due.
So I can’t really see them having the capacity to get out those thousands of statements out for the current year. Along with compiling the list of delinquent taxes, publishing the delinquent list in accordance with the law, and then holding an in person sale with 800 people in an hotel ballroom. And getting it all done within about 60 days.
I guess June 2021 is going to be a MONSTER of a tax sale across all of Iowa, if Des Moines/Polk Co is any indication.
