Copper pipe busted in attic....still leaking?

We have a well and a pipe busted in attic, we shut off water to house but it’s still dropping through fixtures in ceiling, why?  Also, it’s yellow water in color, is that normal?

@Penny Sprang - It is going to keep leaking until the water pressure drops and there is no water left near the break.  Why did it bust... frozen?  If so, then it typically continues to leak until melted and the water behind the ice gets out.

Water would likely be yellow coming out of the pipe due to contaminants. You should have the water tested once the damage is repaired.

If you mean that water dripping out of your ceiling and fixtures is yellow, that is because the water would leave the pipe, pass through insulation, wood, plaster, drywall, coal dust, etc. - pretty much any building material or dirt between the source of the leak and the place it is dripping. Water is an excellent solvent due to its chemical makeup. So as it passes by all of these materials it is going to cause some of them to dissolve into the water flow - thus discoloring the water.
