First off, I really want to keep this civil, intelligent discourse, please. Next, prove what you say, if possible.
To me, there are three main reasons that Scott Brown won.
1. He ran a better campaign. He ran an "Obama Like" campaign.
2. People do not want the health care reform bill that is currently being bantered around Washington. Most polls show a 60-70% AGAINST the current bill.
3. People are really beginning to see that the government cannot create jobs nearly as efficiently as the Private Sector.
There are a myriad of other reasons, but let's face it, Obama's honeymoon is OVER. The Dems honeymoon is over. NOW, they have to listen to THE PEOPLE.

I think he won because the dems didn't have enuff time to DESTROY Brown. 30 days ago, Brown was behind 30 points! Dems didn't send out their attack dogs. By the time they knew they were in trouble. all they could muster was a lame ad and his posing in a mag in 1982!!!
The dems have to win by attacking. They lose on substance and are way out of touch with the American people. Obama is even weaker now than a month ago. He might have even hurt the vote in Mass by showing up according to some polls! The special deals hurt the dems in all the recent races
1.La purchase
2. Nebraska bribe
3. union special deal
4. secret bills, not transparent as promised
5. passing bills that were never read
6. spending like drunken sailors
None of these items helped Marsha, nor the last couple elections for governors. If the dems continue their pulling the strings behind the curtain, they'll keep getting beaten. Rich

I voted for Obama and I really wanted the healthcare reform so this is a bitter pill to swallow but I can graciously accept being knocked out in round 1 of 2010.
I clearly think that Brown ran a much better campaign. My perception was that the Dems were too confident that they could count solely on history to repeat itself and it was an auto win for Dems. They let their guard down.
Also, I think that Coakley was viewed as another Palin. I dont think people felt she was qualified for what they needed. She was not a great candidate in my opinion and Brown was an excellent candidate for the Republicans. If I were voting in MA, and healthcare wasnt on the line, I would easily have voted Brown over Coakley.
I agree that a rebuttal against health care reform was also a factor. However, I feel that had a better democratic candidate been in the ring and provided a good campaign, then the Independents would have heard the other side/a better side of the reform and voted in favor of it. In other words, MA heard a one sided story in regards to the reform and made their decision on that.
Lastly, the best person won and hopefully the Dems take a closer look at what is going on and hopefully we will see things put on the table that make both sides happy.

Health care reform needs to address COST, SERVICE and AVAILABILITY. Forcing folks to have Health Insurance is like forcing folks to have Life Insurance. It is WRONG.
Unless you address TORT reform, Anti Trust practices, and outright FRAUD, you will never address Health Reform correctly.
Here are a few anecdotal samples: Medicare paying $2,000.00 for a wheel chair. A hospital buying a twenty nine cent item and charging $120.00 for it to the Health Insurance Company. A hospital charging $50.00 for one tylenol. Most doctor's I know pay six figures just for mal-practice insurance.
Unless you address the real CORE of the problem, nothing will get fixed. But Washington is full of attorneys and Insurance Lobbyist, thus stonewalling true health care reform.

Very simple! Brown won because of the Lousiana purchase, the Ben Nelson Medicaid payoff, and mostly because of the Union tax exemption payoff. People are SICK OF THIS CRAP! Without those payoffs, Coakley would have been elected and healthcare would have passed, which would have been a disaster of epic proportions.

I really dont think that Health Care was an issue. Providing services is never an issue (sometimes it should be) but what was an issue was FORCING services on someone and FORCING them to pay for it.
Convince me I need it, show me what it will cost, and allow me to accept it.
Try to FORCE me to accept something and watch where I FORCE it!!!!!!!!
That is the American state of mind that was run into in MA.
