New Investor Kansas City, MO
My name is Chase Taylor. I relocated to KCMO in July 2017 from Chicago. I am originally from Orlando, Florida. I work in Multi-Unit Retail Management and am passionate about personnel development and process optimization. I have long been interested in real estate, specifically buy and hold SFH and small multi-family properties. I purchased my first duplex in Independence, MO in October 2018 and currently owner-occupy one unit and rent the other. I am looking to continue growing my education and network to put together my next deal in 2019.

Congrats on joining BP and recently closing your first deal. @Dmitriy Fomichenko gave you some great advice. I would just add:
1. Continue to be a life long learner. Continue to invest in yourself.
2. Seek out good people and learn as much as possible from them.
3. As you become more experienced and more knowledgeable, pass your knowledge on to those who are less experienced.
Welcome to BP.
Welcome Chase!
I’m a realtor and also own a remodeling company here in KC. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Good luck with your investing future!

Hello! @Chase Taylor
Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.
I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.
First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:
https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp
The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:
https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52743-im-new-to-bp-any-advice-would-be-appriciated
The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent.
There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.
I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)

Welcome to BP Chase and good luck investing!
Thank you @Andrew Syrios I have followed your posts and appreciated your insight
Good work, @Chase Taylor. You got past the first big hurtle in real estate investment, signing up and reaching out in BiggerPockets. We are happy to help you in any way we can.
@Chase Taylor I think Independence is a great place to get started in real estate. The median value in this area really helps to lower the barrier to entry for many, while still provide a stable base to rent or flip. Congratulations on he duplex, how's it been finding a renter?
@Aaron Winters when I purchased the property one unit was already occupied. I interviewed her and felt very good about her as a tenant. She has remained with long term plans to stay.
Thank you @Jack Butala
Congrats @Chase Taylor! Exciting man ... keep it up and lay out your vision, plan, and what it looks like when you are done. Good luck!
Welcome @Chase Taylor! I would also recommend attending the local Kansas City MAREI meetup in December. Great networking with local KC investors.
@Chase Taylor Congratulations on your first investment. Kansas City can be a great cash flow market and for the last few years has been seeing strong appreciation too. I've been active there for several years. Feel free to reach out if you want to bounce ideas around.
Congrats @Chase Taylor! I also invested my first buy and hold rental in Missouri. However, mine was a SFH in Grandview.
Wish you much success!
Thank you! @Nathan Brooks
Thank you @Brit Streebin I will check it out
Thank you @Mike D'Arrigo I have followed your posts and appreciated your feedback on the KC market
Thank you @Edgar Estrada and congratulations on your first property as well.
