Investing in Louisiana

My partner and I have been in the Shreveport, Louisiana area our whole lives. But recently we decided to get into Real Estate Investing. I’ve looked at options for Hard Money Loan’s but haven’t found anything that would fit us. We’ve talked about expanding our search area as far as Dallas, Texas. Any pointers on where to start would be greatly appreciated!
