Multifamily Investors in St. Pete/Tampa Bay Area

My girlfriend, Danielle, and I have narrowed our niche and market down to multifamily deals in the St. Pete/Tampa Bay area.

We are now in the process of looking for other investors with like-minds to partner with, passively invest with or/and learn from. We are really enthusiastic about getting our feet wet. We live in Long Island, NY so learning from others who are in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete market or invest there will be a huge help. 

Any advice on how to really take that first step to get started would be helpful. We are eager to hear from others and to learn as much as we can.
