Car salesman turning First time newbie to real estate wholesaling

My name is Michael Carter and I'm from Bergen County, New Jersey and have been intrigued in the real estate market since my wife and I got our first place together in 2005.  I remember the sales agent asked us at the closing if we ever thought about becoming a real estate agent.  For some strange reason my mouth opened up and said I would like to get involved in being an agent.

It was something about selling and providing a service to families in helping them find their dream home.  More importantly, I wanted to find a way to reconnect my past experience in sports and entertainment to the real estate market.

I took the real estate agent class a couple of years ago, completed the course but failed the final exam.  Instead of going back and retaking the test, I let time go by and exhausted the time period to take the test again. I decided to try something else and move into the auto industry and became a car salesman.  I've only worked for three major dealerships and in the end they are all the same, exhausting long hours, not enough money and management tries to make you like a puppet and gives you a script to say to a customer.  That's not me nor how I work!  My goal is to be honest and trustworthy, provide the customer with quality customer service, while helping them get into the vehicle that fits their lifestyle and needs.

I came across a gentleman, who is now my mentor who introduced me to other avenues in real estate such as wholesaling.  He also informed me about this website, Bigger Pockets to network and research about the business. I have left the auto industry to pursue my goal in real estate as wholesaler and moving into real estate investor and try to become an agent as well.  I'm ready to take my first dive by finding a property in Essex county and sell it to a buyer. My goal is to do approximately 10 deals my first 2 months followed by owning property rentals in 3-4 months. I want to have a network of affiliate wholesalers, investors and landlords in the business to help me grow my portfolio.

I just wanted to introduce myself and if anyone has any insights they would like to share with me about this business and networking opportunities, please feel free to reply.

Thank you for taking the time to read this long introduction.

Best,

Michael C.
