Hi BP Community!

My name is Tou and my background is in Supply Chain and Informational Technology Management. I have always been interested in real estate and how to become financially independent. I have two young boys ages 2 and 6 months with whom I would love to spend most of my time with but that my full time job permits. My wife, Mai See, is currently a stay-at-home mother but has also gained an interest in real estate investing. Together as a team, we feel confident and are ready to take action into securing our family’s financial future.

We have seen a lot of debate about whether becoming licensed as a real estate agent/broker/realtor is necessary, but because we both are in this together, we have decided that my wife will be the one to become licensed, eliminating having to hire an outside agent, killing two birds with one stone. What is the community’s thoughts about our first plan?

Secondly, we recently graduated and though we owe much in student debt, we have decided to put our payments on hold temporarily in order to invest in our multifamily unit. Also having debt, we drew an interest into the investing strategy of house hacking where we could potentially live free while earning some cash flow, saving as much of our expenses as possible. What are your thoughts?

We are excited to become part of this awesome community and look forward to meeting new people, building connections and learning as much as we can! Thank you BiggerPockets!
