Introduction. Here to learn.

So my name is Josh.  I live in Nashville Tennessee with my fiancé.  We own our current home outright and we have a little bit of savings in the bank.

So for the past few months Caitlyn (fiancé) and I have been discussing how to invest our money and plan to build our retirement.  We are both in our mid twenties and wanted to be a little riskier in the beginning to build wealth faster.

So naturally we asked friends and family about advice. One friend recommended us the rich dad poor dad book.  Needless to say it was a great motivator for us.

I almost fell into the guru trap and something gave me the idea to do an internet search on real estate investing before I paid for any classes or mentor.

Then I found BiggerPockets.  I've been reading for two weeks and listened to dozens of hrs of podcasts.  To date you guys have saved me thousands of dollars and taught me so much. Thank you so much.

I work in telecoms and love my job. And Caitlyn works for a 24 hr restaurant as a GM and hates her job.  So we have been looking for a way out of her job for a while.

On some of the podcasts people mentioned buying a cup of coffee or lunch to find a mentor or advice on stuff. So I convinced Caitlyn to talk to a realtor friend about advice on being a realtor or advice on our local market.

The realtor friend agreed to call her and talk about it a bit.  But I asked Caitlyn to one up it, and offer the realtor a free lunch.  So last night I come home and not only did Caitlyn get some advice.  The realtor said she had been looking for an apprentice and possible partnership to be her own broker and open a new agency.  She offered Caitlyn a 50% partnership, help through schooling and testing, and to be her mentor through all of it.

It's awesome how the opportunity all fell together for the cost of a $28 lunch. So Caitlyn gets a new career she will enjoy and a career that will teach of our local market and the knowledge we will need to start our buy and hold strategy for our retirement.  I get to keep a solid career I enjoy with the steady income to allow us to take the risks of jumping into real estate investing.

We both look forward to learning so much off this site and making future deals.  Thanks again BiggerPockets and community.
