Hello BPers from Austin, Texas
Hello Everyone,
My name is Gina. I have been a licensed Realtor in Texas since '06. I have experience in the Katy, McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Allen and Austin area. I have also been a part of Boxer Rescue for 13 years serving as a foster home and on the board. I currently have a foster in our home that is a white young female boxer that is totally deaf that was knocking on deaths door. She is now strong and healthy after 2 blood transfusions and a lot of good food looking for her forever home
My husband James and I have a unique story to most I believe. We are 50 years old and basically starting our lives over to no fault of our own. We have been married for 30 years and have seen our share of ups and downs. We feel those journeys have done nothing but make us stronger as individuals and a couple. 5 years ago we had a growing 401K, owned a beautiful home and had no debt other than our home. My husband has been in the Semi-Conductor business as a glassblower since 1985. 5 years ago he decided to leave a small, family owned company that he had been with for 7 years to go to a larger company over 200 miles away. He gave his notice and the owner was not happy. He realized his "cash cow" was leaving. He filed a law suite on my husband stating a breach of contract on a "verbal" non-compete. Of course the way our court system works is anyone can sue you for just about anything and then you spend large amounts of your money proving your innocents. My husband was found innocent but not for 3 years while the person bringing forth the lawsuit drug his feet and slowed down the process. Needless to say, he said he would "ruin" my husband financially and he almost did. We sold everything we owned and emptied out the 401K just to pay the lawyers and the other expenses required to fight the allegations, to be found not guilty. In fact, the final judge ripped the person a new one for wasting everyone's time and money on such a frivolous lawsuit.
So, now we have had 2 years to get back on our feet and ready for some brighter days ahead!!!!!! We have always wanted to become investors and figured now is as good as any to do it. My husband intended on continuing to work his full-time job unless the future proves something different. We are at a place we REALLY need to start kicking it up to prepare for retirement. We both agree that investing in Real Estate is something you can do for the rest of your life. On top of that we really want to be able to learn and then teach our adult children. Our oldest son is a Houston Firefighter and our youngest works for a company that writes workman's comp insurance and offers HR services.
We are very interested in learning how to invest without having to use our own money. I read and hear that is really possible. We are also very interested in learning all the different ways in detail how to acquire properties from different resources. Our desire is to flip homes and hold others as rental properties.
I am so excited to learn from those of you that have forged the way before us. We are ready to learn from not only your successes but also your setbacks. We look forward to starting to get to know each of you that are apart of BiggerPockets.
