Investing in Blount Couny TN - New to investing

GOOD AFTERNOON BIGGER POCKETS!!! More importantly, good afternoon East TN! (Thank God the ice and snow has subsided)

A little about myself. My name is Ty. Total noob. Originally from Maryland I moved to the Maryville area a little over two months ago to join my parents in their RE investing adventure. I have worked in construction and wholesale plumbing sales my entire adult life (I am 30). I hated the sales position and one day realized that there was absolutely nothing tying me down to the DC area, so I packed my belongings and followed the lines going South. As I stated, I am a total noob, but am young, hungry and eager to learn.

A little about my parents... a few years ago my Mom (freelance writer) and my Dad (residential general contractor) got fed up with Martin O'Malley's 40 some new taxes and high tailed it to the beautiful Great Smoky Mtns. They built their forever house in Walland, but weren't ready to retire. My dad was having a tough time finding good paying remodeling jobs (Mom is fine, so long as she has an internet connection for work). So they took some cash, got hooked up with a GREAT local realtor and bought their first flip house in Maryville. Then this past fall they brought up the idea of me coming down to help with the day to day activities.

Now a little about our company. We have one fix and flip under our belts, one that will be hitting the market this week, another nearing completion (hopefully, in the next 4 weeks). Also, after seeing the great tax benefits of owning rentals and a good way to help build a nice retirement portfolio we decided to get into rentals. So, we recently closed on our first buy and hold rental that should be ready for tenants in the next 4 weeks. We are also starting to look into the risks and benefits of mobile home parks.

Anyway, that is our story so far! If you would like to network with us, by all means shoot me a message. I love meeting new people (especially here in Blount County, everyone is just so friendly) I love listening and learning from those who have come before me. I love hearing/learning about their successes, failures, do's and dont's. Thanks, and I look forward to becoming a seasoned member of BP.
