Furnishing a log home

Ellen Griffith
Posted

Hey guys, please help me brainstorm. I need to furnish a 4 bedroom log home for a STR. I need furniture, linens, dishware, decor...everything.

I've been checking out garage sales and Craiglist, both where I live (700 miles from the property) and in the towns around the rental. If I find something good on Craigslist, friends can buy and schlep the items for me. Some things I will buy on Costco, Amazon, etc. to have shipped straight to the house. I plan to set up the house to sleep 8-14. (3 bedrooms with kings, 1 bedroom with 2 bunkbeds, family room with 2 sofa sleepers.)

What do you picture when you think of a log vacation home in Montana? It's on 55 acres, no lake or ski hill or anything. I don't want to make it TOO much of a hunting lodge theme. This isn't Grizzly Adams' cabin. But sleek IKEA furniture sure wouldn't fit in.

Do you all use comforters, comforter/duvets, or quilts?

I have been learning a lot from this forum. Thank you all for sharing your ideas.
