How would you compete against this?

There is a motel in my town.  They have bathtubs and showers.  They have color televisions.  They have telephones.  I have none of that.  How would I compete against a motel with tub/shower, color tv and telephones?  I do have indoor plumbing in the kitchens and various outdoor cats.  People have to bathe outside with a garden hose though.

Well the easiest/cheapest thing would be to get TVs. They are dirt cheap now at Best Buy or Costco. $200 for a 40 inch....That would help a lot since everyone loves their sports/movies/etc....

The other thing I would want is a bathroom. Maybe you can tack one onto the outside of the kitchen wall so you can share the plumbing?

Don't worry about phones, everyone does cell nowadays....

I wouldn't worry about getting televisions, your various cats can entertain them, but you might want to invest in sprinklers for the hoses!

You are assuming your clients bathe.

And it's a short 1,303 miles to the Waldorf Astoria New York

I think actually they have showers too.

Do you still have the fox?  That’s a perk that the others don’t have, for sure.

At a motel like that all you are really looking for is no judgment and no questions asked.  Lie about the first part because of course you are judging but stay faithful to the second.

Classic roadside 80's.  I wonder what the whited-out room rate was?

    $19.99/night. Compete with that!

@Bruce Woodruff, if you are paying $200 for a 40" LED/LCD TV, you are overpaying my man!

@Paul Sandhu, I thought you were already crushing those guys?

Facebook market place has great deals on TV's. You could also slowly start to rehab one unit at a time. I would look into trying to buy out that motel.

Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

The guy that owned the motel sold it to some gullible sucker, took the money and moved out of town.  The gullible sucker has had 12 vehicles in the parking lot in the LAST TWO YEARS.  I drive by there every evening to see how many people are staying there.

Ya know @Paul Sandhu, it almost seems like it could be an opportunity for you if you could get it cheap. I bet you could so something cool with that.

I would knock out the wall between every 2 rooms to expand the living space.  Put in a kitchen, washer/dryer and another bedroom.  It's already plumbed and wired.  But I don't need any more than 23 STRs to manage.

Being converted to condos right now I'm afraid; they'll need to go to The Plaza for the next little bit.
