Experiences with Shawn Huss at Chemical Bank?
Hi All,
Hope you're doing well!
Can anyone share with me their experiences going through Shawn Huss at Chemical Bank? I've heard his name on a podcast and he seems like a great guy to work with, especially for investors. But I want to learn more and do my due diligence before moving forward with his pre-approval process.
Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Snehann,
I believe this may be my first post on here. I tend to just read blogs and never have much to add.
However, since my family and I have worked with Shawn I would like to say that he is excellent and very professional. He helped us acquire our first 7 investment properties (4 duplexes, 3 student SFH in Kentucky ). He also helped my sister purchase her house in Portland, Oregon. I highly recommend him.
We also worked with him when he was at Talmer bank, the bank that Chemical bank absorbed.

A few of my buyers have used him and they seem happy. I've corresponded a few times with him as well - all with fast responses.
Shawn is good. I worked with him maxing out my 10 fannie mae properties.
Very quick responses via email. He is done after 10 though and has no commercial side.
@Luca W. Thanks a lot for your feedback! Good to hear that Shawn's been able to help you and your family out with your portfolio. I'm glad you chose my thread to be the first post you comment on haha :)
@Shawn Holsapple Thanks for your response!
@Gabe G. Good to know, thanks for sharing! I'm going to take it step-by-step now and I'll figure it out once I hopefully get to 10+ properties.

@Snehann Kapnadak - How did it go with Shawn Huss at Chemical Bank? - Please share your experience and thank you in advance!
@Snehann Kapnadak small world. I closed a deal with him a few months ago, he was fine. We just had an issue with repairs being made although this was a conventional loan the home did require some repairs, in which we completed but underwriter wasn’t satisfied with some things but we finally closed. I can’t say I communicated with him much because he also has an assistant but overall we closed the deal.
We just purchased to turn Key properties using Chemical Bank, Shawn Huss and give him a five star rating!
@Nimisha R. and @Marcia Dabrowski Sorry for the delay here! Working with Shawn and team was a good experience. They were very thorough and prompt with all the documents needed for the loan and for closing. The only thing that didn't go well was that for some reason they weren't able to send me all the documents to sign electronically and so I needed to physically print out every page, sign, and send back to them. So that was very cumbersome and annoying. But I'm sure they've updated their technology and are better at the closing process now.
Another thing I didn't like that much was that I had asked for the closing documents to be sent to me ahead of time prior to the notary arriving but they didn't. So I didn't get to review those documents until signing.
Other than that, his team has been great to work with. They just updated their software I think and so far it's been seamless.
@Account Closed Great to hear!
Shawn is the best. We've sent plenty of investors to him for cash out refi's, always with good results!
I'm sorry but this is the worst experience ever that I had with my California client. It took over 4 months to close 3 duplexes. I had to beg the Listing Agents on the other side to not pull the deals and to not keep my buyer's earnest money and have her lose all the money she had into all 3 deals which would've been to the tune of $9000 or more. Never in my life have I ever experienced such incompetence. I had to actually call the corporate headquarters to get things done. Even still, I had a difficult time navigating and getting to the right person to handle this situation. It still was a struggle even after that! Also, the Manager above Shawn did nothing but try to protect Shawn's good name. I asked for someone else to work with at the firm and the Manager refused to do it. His idea was that I should give Shawn an opportunity to redeem himself. No, that isn't good enough. People need to be held accountable for their mistakes. Not one person should ever have to go through this ever! I will be making sure this complaint is heard loud and clear.
Just left Shawn a message. Closing 20 townhomes
