Introduction to BiggerPockets
Hey guys my name is Devon Kennard I’m in the NFL and have been a real estate investor as well for the last 5 years. I’ve been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast for over a year now and finally decided to join and connect with you guys! Looking forward to networking and learning from you guys!
@Devon Kennard - Welcome to BP! Glad to have you with us.
@Devon Kennard welcome to BP! I work for a real estate company owned by NFL owners and work pretty closely with personnel on the NFL side as well. If you are ever in Minnesota and have time to meet up let me know.
@Devon Kennard congratulations on your pro career. It will definately give you several advantages in your real estate career. I know @Austin Hendrickson and can vouch that he would be a good connection to bridge your two worlds.

Welcome, Devon!
Very cool that you are already a RE investor.
As a professional athlete (awesome!) you're no stranger to practice, hard work and following a plan to achieve a goal. That will serve you well. Glad to have you!
@Austin Hendrickson no plans of being in Minnesota anytime soon mostly due to our offseason program starting but would love to connect over the phone sometime soon!
@Steve Vaughan thanks Steve! I have a ton to learn but I’m passionate about it and it’s fun so I’m looking forward to furthering my exposure. Let’s connect more sometime.
@Devon Kennard Congrats on joining BP! You will find this to be one of the most, if not THE most, valuable assets in your real estate journey. Everyone here is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
What are some of your real estate goals?
@Josh Wagner right now the main metric I pay attention to is my net monthly return through my real estate investments. My first goal is to get to 25k a month than 50k than 100k. Right now All of my real estate investments focus on investing in turn key properties and becoming a limited partner in syndications.
@Devon Kennard That's awesome man, great goals. I have some connections in the Detroit area. Let's chat sometime soon and start expanding your network!
@Adam Weber maybe you can give @Devon Kennard some advice. Devon Adam was a college & pro QB and is transitioning into Real Estate.
PS- Adam, I met Angie at the Best Ever Conference and I'm totally impressed. You should get behind her because she it going to be making pro athelete money before you know it.

Hey Devon,
That's awesome to see you on here. I'm a Cowboys fan but definitely been watching y'all play throughout the season. Being that I'm a 90's kid I am naturally a Barry Sanders fan as well. I'm an Investment Real Estate Consultant for investors in Austin, TX. I've been in contact with Khiry Robinson as well since he has looked to invest in Bell County, TX. Let's network!
Best regards,
Josh Esparza

Hello and welcome! You came to a good site. Best of luck to you!
Welcome to Bigger Pockets. As a local you have an advantage have you checked out any local investor groups? There are a ton on Facebook that post events where we all get together. It would be a great idea to join and meet with the community a lot of good networking.
Detroit is moving up there are a ton of buy and hold opportunities in specific areas. Feel free to message me if you need some additional info.
@Devon Kennard Welcome to the BP community, Devon! Congratulations on your successes in the NFL, and if you ever decided to get involved in the Chicago market, feel free to reach out. Since it sounds like your main goal is to get to $25k a month (first benchmark; and then 50k, and then 100k) and you're focusing primarily on turnkey properties, could be worthwhile to consider an online rental management solution which can help to automate managing those turnkey properties. Would be happy to explain further if you'd like! Once again, welcome to the community!
@Devon Kennard Welcome. Glad to see you jumping in. I think you'll find this a great place to network and exchange ideas. I don't know the Detroit market but there are plenty of people on here that do. If you haven't already done so, be sure to set up keywords for your market and areas of interest,
@Devon Kennard hey it looks like you’re in Detroit. So am I. We should meet up and have a coffee sometime and talk real estate.
@Devon Kennard

Welcome to the site Devon.
@Devon Kennard Welcome. Are you primarily investing in the Detroit area? Or do you have other areas of focus? Texas is doing very well. Not sure if you have considered it but we are experiencing a major growth all over Texas but more specifically within the Texas Triangle: Dallas-Ft Worth on the north side, San Antonio on the lower west side with Austin-San Marcos-Round Rock in the middle and Houston on the east side.
