My Bigger Pockets Goals for 2018- (you should do these with me)

Hey everyone,

Each year I make a list personal goals and work to make sure I hold myself accountable.  Many of these goals are private to me and my wife but a couple of them are relevant to the BP community.

1) I plan to post a minimum of 120 times this year with a minimum of 10 posts in each calendar month.  For the purposes of this goal I count each response, blog posting or new forum post that I make.  So far I am at 3  (last year I posted a total of 1 time so this a major change for me)  I'd love it if some of you would keep me honest on this one.

2) I plan listen to all of the BP podcasts.  I think I have listened to about 40 total prior to this year and if there is one that I remember well Ill probably skip it and move on but if I dont recall the details I am going to relisten to it.  Last year I read 62 books about half of which were on audible this year I am using my audible time for BP podcasts.  I hope to finish by June.  So far I have listened to 1-18 and am about 1/2 through show 19.

and now some real estate goals

3) Purchase 1 property in my Self directed Roth (just set this up in December by selling some stocks and moving the funds over to a Checkbook LLC Roth. So I am excited to track down the right opportunity and put that cash back to work. (its not a lot of money so Ill have to be selective but I think I can do it--ill keep you posted).

4) Purchase at least 1 property without a partner.  I currently have a bunch of partnership interests but I want to have at least 1 undivided interest in a property that my wife and I own outside our retirement accounts.  (This is in addition to the Roth property listed in goal 3)

Id love it if a bunch of you were to join in so if either of my first two listed goals seem like something you would like to do drop me a line or reply and get started posting/listening.  To listen to all podcasts is probably an hour a day commitment for the rest of the year but if you get behind you can always shoot for more time or start your year today instead of Jan 1.

Good luck and let me know

Hey guys! Sorry the late response. Right now i am listening to

the podcast off and on for help cover everything and still reading. I am doing the numbers for properties looking and applied to a couple hard money lenders so i can have the funding for my flips. But the main goal is to take the flip money to fund my multi families... but that's another story. Starting to make offers. I will have bought my first property by the end of the year, as long as i keep pushing. thanks again and wish the best to everyone's successes.

Wowsers this year has really started to move fast.  Less than 2 months to go.  I am sorry its been a while since I gave an update.

1) killed this goal way over 120 posts for year.

2) I am up to podcast 269 and should be able to finish them this year

3) As noted previously I have chosen not to pursue this goal

4) Still working on this goal to purchase with out a partner.  It might still happen but I have been distracted by some bigger partnership deals.

Also exciting side note I have started syndicating some deals and thats going great so far.  Also we will be launching a video podcast of our own on youtube called the Old Fashioned Real Estate show where in we drink Old Fashioneds and talk about investment real estate.  Should be a blast.  Stay tuned or search us out on facebook or YouTube.

Goal Update,  I'd love to hear how some of you are doing as well.

Just so you dont have to scroll back my 2018 goals were as follows.

1) I plan to post a minimum of 120 times this year with a minimum of 10 posts in each calendar month. (killing this im at about 490 posts so far and more than 10 a month each month,  except December but I am working on that now)

2) I plan listen to all of the BP podcasts. I think I have listened to about 40 total prior to this year and if there is one that I remember well Ill probably skip it and move on but if I dont recall the details I am going to relisten to it.(I am up to show 296,  so I think Ill be able to finish this up before year end.)

and now some real estate goals

3) Purchase 1 property in my Self directed Roth (ended up loaning the money out instead and I think it was a good call)

4) Purchase at least 1 property without a partner. ( I didnt do this but instead formed a new partnership and bought in a different asset class (also did two syndication deals)  I am also under contract with my Michigan partners to buy a 41 unit.  We will have gone from 19 apartment units to  to 92 this calendar year in that partnership.  That total doesnt include my 12 unit in Georgia nor any of the single families, duplexes and commercial units.

Huge news people I did it! Yesterday I officially got current on the BP podcast and this post is more than ten this month and more than 120 for the year so I have officially hit my posting and podcast goals for 2018. Listening to over 300 episodes was a big stretch for me but it was definitely worth learned a ton and am making big moves as a result. I bought and office building a 32 unit apartment complex, a strip mall, started a new partnership, did some private money lending overall it's been a killer year. Full disclosure I didn't buy an individual no partnership property not a Roth property but that's ok those goals morphed into bigger and better accomplishments. I look forward to next year and to hearing how you all did.

Ok so I got distracted with some other family priorities in 2018. I married my Fiancé which took up a lot of time and planning and have been working my tail off in my W2 job. For 2019 I’m getting back on track with RE goals and have even upgraded to a pro acct. As far as studying and listening to podcasts I never stopped the learning process, and am almost done with all the podcasts.

Getting back on track and attending the webinars.

@Todd Romero thanks for jumping back in and congrats on the marriage.  Thats a big deal and rightly should take priority over the RE stuff.  Lets just make 2019 our best years yet and not worry about what we didnt get done in 2018
